This project was an addition to a 19th century farmhouse, originally built in 1835. The clients wanted a master suite and office that was more private and removed from the rest of the home. The intent of this space was to be a spa-like retreat for the couple. We achieved this by plastering the walls in a soft grey tadelakt plaster that gave a cohesive and monochromatic appeal, while adding accents of matte black and brass to really ground the space. The towel hooks, faucets, door handles, and edge pulls were specifically curated pieces that are so architecturally attractive, they are considered art, in and of itself. The lighting was thoughtfully chosen, to make a statement, but to not take away from the simplicity of the design. We worked to achieve a contemporary Danish minimalism, while also incorporating precious heirlooms and vintage pieces to make this space really feel unique.
